The undocumented father was arrested by immigration agents for taking his daughter to Azusa’s school on Thursday.
Surveillance video captured the arrest just before 7:45am. The man is wearing blue clothes walking into the family truck as some agents put him in the box.
The undocumented man’s wife said that after her husband was taken to an agent early in the morning he still had children.
His wife records the moment he was put in a gray sedan, and was taken away after his 14-year-old daughter, whom he was about to drive to school, ran up crying and crying, and someone said she had taken her father.
“She said, ‘Mom, Mom, my dad, someone caught him.’
The couple came to the US from Puebla, Mexico 21 years ago to find better opportunities. According to their wife, their lives have three children and grandchildren, so now they are deeply rooted in Azusa.
“He had no deportation orders. I don’t know why they took him. Why did they take him?” his wife said.
A search of NBC4 court records could not identify his criminal history, but says his wife may have had a DUI over a decade ago.
Her husband was the main support for her and her teenage daughter, and told her whether she was still at home and whether she was being deported or not to sell his truck to help her family.
His wife is now worried about her next time.
“They can deport me too, and what will happen to my children?” my wife said.
Her husband said he refused to sign the deportation order and would be transferred to an immigration detention center where a court hearing would take place.
