The man was hospitalized in dangerous conditions after his car was hit by an orange passenger train Thursday night.
Orange Police responded to a crash at the intersection of Glassell Street and Taft Avenue at 7:02pm
The driver, identified solely as a 66-year-old garden glove man, was driving a Jeep SUV when an eyewitness saw the railroad crossing arms dropping.
The man was hospitalized in dangerous conditions after driving under a railway barrier and was allegedly struck by an Orange passenger train on April 17, 2025.
Police said the man continued to move forward and overcome a bright safety barrier as an approaching train collided with his car.
The photographs of the scene show that the Jeep SUV was summed by the impact. The driver required an Orange City firefighter to escape before he was taken to hospital in dangerous conditions.
“At this point it is unclear whether drugs or alcohol are the factors that cause the collision,” authorities said.
No other injuries have been reported to bystanders or train passengers.
