The suspect has recovered after being kicked out of a stolen vehicle while police chasing in Riverside, authorities have confirmed.
According to the Riverside Police Department, officers found stolen vehicles being driven around 11:30pm on Saturday on the Columbia Avenue and the 215 Expressway area.
After waiting for backup to arrive, officers attempted to carry out a traffic stop on the vehicle occupied by the two suspects, but the driver refused to pull and began a pursuit that led to the 91 highway.
At one point, the driver left 91 on Madison Avenue and then tried to re-enter at a high speed on a nearby ramp. The driver then lost control, pushed the traffic light box and ran through the on-ramp.
The vehicle finally settled in a 24-hour fitness car park.
Both residents were kicked out of the vehicle. They were taken to a local hospital.
The two suspects, who remain publicly unidentified, are in stable condition and are expected to survive. It is not clear whether they were arrested on Sunday morning.
Additional details were not available immediately. The California Highway Patrol handles traffic collision investigations.
