The Oregon Democrat is the newest lawmaker to announce he will travel to El Salvador to advocate for the release of deported illegal immigrant Kilmer Armando Abrego Garcia.
Rep. Maxine Dexter was late Friday, D-Md, Sen. Chris Van Hollen. He said he would then fire into Central America. This week he met last month’s “Center of Terrorism Confinement” (CECOT) MegaPrison when he met Abrego Garcia, who had been deported to the country’s “Center of Terrorism Confinement” (CECOT) MegaPrison last month.
“Legal US residents have torn off due process rights and are now held indefinitely in foreign prisons,” Dexter said in a statement. “This is not just a family nightmare. It’s a constitutional crisis that should anger us all. I’m traveling to El Salvador to face this crisis head on.

Federal judge hammers doj about the location of suspected MS-13 gang member following Scotus order
Abrego Garcia illegally entered the United States in 2011 and was issued in 2019 with an expulsion order. Two previous judges found that he is likely to partner with MS-13.
Trump administration officials have confirmed in court that his deportation was an administrative error, but now some Trump officials say he’s been correctly removed and claim he’s a member of the infamous MS-13 gang.
One immigration judge in 2019 found that Garcia was removable outside of El Salvador due to threats from rival gangs because he had not fully rebutted the evidence of MS-13 affiliation. This is called a withholding tax order.
The Supreme Court has admitted that Abrego Garcia was subject to a 2019 withholding order banning removal from El Salvador, and that removal to El Salvador was “illegal.” The court emphasized that the government must promote release from custody in El Salvador and handle his case as if he had not been deported.
White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller said Monday that Abrego Garcia is no longer eligible for US immigration relief when Trump declared the violent gang as a terrorist organization.

The incident attracted a wedge between Democrats and Republicans.
The Trump administration claims that Abrego Garcia is a member of the MS-13 gang, with a violent history of abusing his wife, allegedly trafficking. On Friday, Trump released images of Abrego Garcia’s hands.
The 2022 Homeland Security Investigation Report identified Garcia as a member of MS-13 and suspected of being a human trafficker. The 2021 domestic violence application written by his wife Jennifer Vasquez said, “I have multiple photos/videos about how violent he is and all his bruises [has] He left me. ”
Democrats like Dexter say they are hardworking Marylanders who stripped him of his due process rights after he was sent to the infamous prison.

Critics, including Republicans and Trump’s allies, have questioned why Van Hollen travels abroad to defend those allegedly gang ties and those with domestic abuse records, and remain silent about victims like Rachel Morin, a Maryland woman killed by illegal immigrants in 2023.
