First on FOX: The White House has launched a new “Path of Independence” video lecture series leading up to America’s 250th birthday, and the Trump administration is planning a year-long festival to commemorate it.

The series marks a key moment in American history ahead of the start of the Trump administration’s year-round festival, which begins on the same day as the first engagement of the Revolutionary War in 1775 and begins on Memorial Day to mark the 250th anniversary of America.

The video was produced in a partnership between the Department of Education and Hillsdale University, whose chairman appeared in an introductory video that launched the series.

“President Trump wants to open his heart and celebrate the 250th anniversary of next year’s Declaration of Independence,” Hillsdale President Larry P. Earn said in his introductory video. “One of the things we have to do to commemorate something — it just means remembering together — first of all, if we don’t know it well, we don’t remember it very well. So part of the purpose of this series of lectures is to remember.”

The “Path of Independence” video series will peak at the beginning of a year-long festival in the Trump administration, celebrating America’s 250th birthday.

In January, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to establish a White House task force to lead the planning and execution of this “extraordinary celebration.” The White House plans to engage with the federal government, state and local governments, the private sector, nonprofit organizations and educational institutions as a whole.

Arnn’s introductory message, which launched the video series on Saturday, also paired with the first episode of the video series commemorating the battle between Lexington and Concord. Additional episodes shared on the White House website are released regularly to commemorate important events related to the establishment of America.

Trump creates a task force to plan an “extraordinary celebration” to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence

The Battle of Lexington and Concord, fought on April 19, 1775, was the first military involvement that led to the American independence from Britain and the final signing of the Declaration of Independence. The 10-minute video shares the story of this pivotal moment in history, from a historical perspective at Hillsdale University.

In addition to two videos in the series, the White House commemorates the beginning of America’s battle for independence this weekend by reading the poem “Paul Libyaride,” by White House reporter Caroline Levia Bit, which will be featured on social media. This poem commemorates Paul Revere’s riding in the middle of the night on April 18, 1775.

“President Trump has a strong sense of honoring our nation’s heritage ahead of this monumental anniversary, and has signed an executive order to create the United States 250 Task Force,” Leavitt told Fox News Digital. “The Road to Independence” video series brings the incredible story of our country to the public as we prepare to celebrate America together in July 2026. ”

During President Trump’s first term, he held a unique “Salute to America” event on July 4, 2019. This was different from the typical Independence Day celebrations made by past presidents. The event included a prominent display of tanks parked near the national mall and military hardware with military overpasses by a series of aircraft. It also included a speech from the president about the stairs at the Lincoln Memorial and a typical fireworks display.
