Southern California rescue teams carried three other passengers to help airlift the injured man after an off-road vehicle fell to the flank of the canyon Sunday evening.
San Bernardino County Firefighters said firefighters and paramedics hiked to the crash site on Myers Canyon Road near Lytle Creek at about 5pm and met flight crews from the sheriff’s aviation team that had been hanging down to the scene.
According to the department’s X-Post, the vehicle went over the side of a dirt road and eventually rested about 30-40 feet below the canyon.
“The injured subject was found just outside the vehicle where it was rested,” Post said. “All adults, three other residents of the four-seat all-terrain vehicle, were not injured.”
A video provided by SBC Fire showed a crew working next to a capsized vehicle to treat and prepare the injured man.
He was then caught up in a helicopter hovering the patient up and was taken to a local trauma center. Authorities did not immediately specify his injury or what condition he was in.
Response resources from Fontana and San Bernardino included two engine companies for paramedics, a technical rescue team, and more.
The California Highway Patrol investigated the crash and no further details were provided.
