Police in Leseda shot dead a man armed with a handgun fired in a police helicopter Sunday evening.
While the investigation into the fatal police shooting is in its first stage, officials from the Los Angeles Police Department said officers responded to a report of a fatal weapon and a suspect armed with a handgun just before 6:30pm in the 6400 block of Leseda Boulevard.
Upon arrival, officers encountered an apartment on Victory Boulevard near the intersection of Lessedubird, and found a man who was said to be only male adults.
“The LAPD airship is overhead and the suspect appears to be firing a handgun on the airship,” officials said. “At this point in the investigation, it doesn’t appear that the airship has been hit by a suspect’s gunshot.”

Police reportedly confronted the man in the alley behind the apartment, set him on fire and attacked him. He was immediately taken into custody.

Medical personnel at the LA Fire Station responded to the scene and declared the man dead.
“The suspect’s handgun will be recovered at the scene and reserved as evidence,” the official added.
Authorities stressed that the case in which citizens and officers were injured was in the early stages of the investigation, with detectives reviewing the video and physical evidence.
The areas of Reseda and Victory Boulevards were expected to be affected for several hours by police activities.
