Police are looking for a man who threw a video and kicked his dog to the ground in Long Beach.
Animal Hope and Wellness posted an Instagram video recorded Monday near 235 East 12th Street.
“The man in this video is mercilessly abusing this poor puppy and needs to find it as soon as possible,” the group wrote in the caption. “What we can say is that the guy has a skateboard so other skaters in the area may be able to identify who this is.”
In the video, the man lifts the dog off the ground with a leash, then slams it into the ground and kicks the animal.
The Long Beach Police Department said it is investigating but did not say whether anyone was arrested or not.
“Patrol officers responded to the area and received animal cruelty reports as the incident had not been previously reported to the department,” the department wrote in a post on X on Monday. “Animal abuse is not acceptable and is not acceptable in our community.”
People for the ethical treatment of animals said in a statement that the organization is offering rewards up to $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest of men on video.
“This dog was attacked violently. Who knows that no other abuse has been caught up in camera,” PETA’s senior vice president, Lisa Lange, said in a statement. “Someone knows this guy and Peta encourages anyone with the information to move forward quickly. It can save the dog’s life.”
