Pope’s transformation through death or resignation – is a complicated process, with ceremonies involving the transition of leadership between both the spiritual chief of the Global Catholic Church and the head of state of the Vatican.

These are terms that require knowledge to help you understand the news in the coming days.

Who is Vatican Camerlengo?

This is “Chamberlain” and is responsible for the official verification of the Pope’s death – and seals his room and his studies. Between then and the election of the new Pope, Kamerlengo manages the “items and temporary rights” of the Sacred Sea. The current one is Irish-born American Cardinal Kevin Farrell.

Who is at Cardinals University?

There are 252 cardiacs all over the world, and as bodies, they are responsible for the matter of Holy See, which is between the Pope, although they have limitations. Of these, 135 are “cardiac electors,” and gather at the Vatican to choose a new pope. For centuries, they have chosen one of their own. According to Vatican statistics, the majority of electors (108) were cardinalized by Pope Francis.

What is a conclave?

This is the closing meeting of Cardinal Selectors to choose a new Pope in the Sistine Chapel. The name literally “holds the key,” used in the 13th century, describes the process of stacking cardinals until elections are complete. It must begin within 20 days of the death or resignation of the Pope. Electors are isolated from all outsiders. The last three Popes were chosen within a few days.

Who is the dean of Cardinals University?

The current dean is Italian cardiac Giovanni Batista Le. He is the head of the Cardinal of University, who knows it from Camerlengo and informs the ambassador to the Cardinal and Ambassador to the Holy See of the Pope’s Death. He convenes the Conclave and takes the Lord side when the electors make their oaths. When a new Pope is chosen, Dean asks him if he accepted and what name he wants to call.

What is Domus Santa Marta?

Built in 1996, this Vatican guesthouse house houses cardiacs during conclaves and is used at other times as a hotel for visiting priests and Vatican officials. Pope Francis never moved after being elected Pope.

What does “extra omness” mean?

The Latin phrase “all out” is spoken by the master of the Pope’s liturgical celebrations, now Italian Archbishop Diego Ravelli.

Why is the Pope’s ring called the fisherman’s ring?

Each Pope gets this ring with a mass marking the beginning of his Pope. It has this name because Jesus told St. Peter, the first Pope, that he would become a “fisherman of man.” Until the 1990s, it was destroyed by the death of the Pope. Now it is either “destroyed” or marked in such a way that it cannot be used as a seal.

Cardinals University will elect a new Pope at a conference known as the Pope Conclave.

What is the general?

This is the name given to all members of Cardinal of College after the death of the Pope and before the start of the Conclave, before discussing the issues of major churches. All Cardinals who are not frail will take part in this meeting at the Apostles Palace of the Vatican. They also discuss the preparations for the Conclave under oath and in secret.

What does that mean when they say “Havemus Papam”?

This Latin phrase is translated into “We have a Pope.” These are the words used by the “Protodecon” of the University of Cardinals to announce the election of a new Pope from the loggia of St. Peter’s Cathedral. He then says the birth name of the new Pope and the name he chose to use as Pope in Latin. The current Protodecon is the Cardinal of France Dominique Manberti.

Who is Infilmari?

These are three cardinals, chosen by random drawings from the electors. Electors are accused of collecting votes for sick electors during the conclave.

What do Pope Francis’ “motto” and “Miséland Atok Erigend” mean?

This is the Latin word “I chose him with mercy.” This is the phrase Francis chose as his motto when he was promoted to bishop and kept as a seal of the Pope. It was drawn from the venerable Homily of the Homily of the Holy Bed, an 8th century monk. It comes from the story of the gospel of St. Matthew, a collector whom Jesus called to follow him.

Who is Revisors?

These are three cardinals, selected by random drawings from the electors.

What is Logito?

This is a document, or “action,” listing the important details of the Pope’s life and the Pope placed in his co. Written in Latin by the Master for the celebration of the Pope’s liturgy. Copying is stored in the Vatican archives.

Who is the scrutiny?

These are three cardinals, selected by random drawings from the electors. Electors reviewed each vote and presented it to a conclave assembled after each round of vote. After that, they tally the votes – to win the election, two-thirds of the votes are needed – and they also burn the votes.

What does “Sede Vacante” mean?

This is the Latin word for “vacancies” between the period between the death or resignation of the Pope and the election of the new one.

What is St. Mary’s Major?

This is a Roman cathedral, and Pope Francis said he wanted to be buried. Francis breaks through the tradition of his predecessor, buried inside the Vatican, and embraces the young Jesus holding a golden book of jewels, saying he wants to be near the Virgin Mary’s favorite icon, Sarus Potpuri Romani, and Sarus Potpuri Romani, a Byzantine-style painting of Madonna covered in blue robes. The icon is located in a church first built in the 5th century and dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Francis said at his will he wanted a simple underground tomb with only “Franciscus” written on it.

What does the textbook “Dominicy University Gregis University” include?

This Latin phrase means “the whole flock of the Lord.” It is the Vatican Constitution that regulates the process from the death of the Pope to the election of a new one. Saint John Paul II issued it to the Pope in 1996, and Pope Benedict XVI revised it twice. Most importantly, after voting a simple majority for about 12 days, you can elect a new Pope rather than a two-thirds majority. If the conclave lasts long, the top two voters will advance to the leak, and a two-thirds of majority are needed to win. None of the top two candidates vote during the leak.

What does white or black smoke mean during the Pope transition?

After each round of votes in Sistine Chapel, the votes can be burned in a special furnace to show the outcome to the outside world. If no Pope is selected, the vote will mix with cartridges containing potassium perchlorate, anthracene (the ingredient in coal tar), and sulfur to produce black smoke. However, if there is a winner, the burning vote will be mixed with potassium chlorate, lactose and chloroform resin to produce white smoke. The bell is also a rang to further show that there is a new Pope.

Archbishop of Philadelphia Nelson Perez and Archbishop of New York, Timothy Dolan, discuss the life and death of Pope Francis.
