Five teenage suspects have been arrested in connection with a violent gang-related attack that left two people hospitalized in Thousand Oaks.
The suspect was identified by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office as follows:
Jefferson Lima, 18, Thousand Oaks Jeremy Platz, 18, male boy from Thousand Oaks, 17, Thousand Oaks, 16, Thousand Oaks, 16, Thousand Oaks, 16, Simi Valley, 16
On April 17, deputies responded to an assault inside a business in the 400 block of North Moor Park Road at 9:30pm.
A group of teens chased the victim into a local business and attacked him inside the store. At least one suspect used sharp weapons to injure the victim, deputies said.
During the violent conflict, the store employees who tried to intervene were also attacked by suspects wielding sharp weapons.
The teenage group fled the store before deputies arrived. The victim was treated at a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
After the investigation, the next day, Placci and the juvenile suspect were found in the 200 block of East Wilbur Road. Both attempted to escape from the detective, but were eventually captured.
On the same day, Lima was at his residence. While searching the home, detectives reportedly found important evidence related to the attack.
The remaining two juvenile suspects were also found and arrested shortly afterwards. All five teenagers are members of local crime-street gangs, authorities confirmed.
Prasi and Lima were arrested for assault with major physical injuries, conspiracy to commit crimes and forces that could cause street terrorism. Both are in custody on $500,000 bail.
Three juvenile suspects were booked at the Ventura County Juvenile Justice Center on similar charges, with court dates pending. The identity of the victim has not been announced, and the motives behind the attack remain under investigation.
“The Thousand Oaks Police Department has a zero tolerance stance against gang violence and encourages anyone with information about crime or gang activity to call 911 or 805-654-9511 in a non-luminous manner to notify sheriff’s dispatch,” the Sheriff’s Department said.
