Sub-average temperatures and morning drizzle seem to set the stage for Southern California weekend showers.
The area saw temperatures drop significantly on Wednesday, with afternoon highs typically below about 10 degrees. These cool conditions should continue as we progress towards the weekend.
“Look at Saturday morning… there’s a wave of showers on Saturday morning, and then there’s also some uncertainty on Sunday morning,” said KTLA meteorologist Henry DiCarlo.
The National Weather Service (NWS) wants the rain total to remain relatively low, but parts of Los Angeles County can receive a tenth to a third of the rain.

“It is likely that rain will be on most parts of the area, primarily in the mornings of SLO and SBA counties and into the late afternoons of VTU and LA counties,” the NWS said in its forecast discussion on Thursday.
Snow levels range between 4,500 and 5,550 feet, with snow expected to exceed the 5,500 feet mark.
The global warming trend is expected to bring temperatures closer to normal early next week.
Henry says the weather is good for those heading to the Stage Coach Music Festival this weekend.
“Maybe you’ve gone through drizzle and cloudy conditions, then you’ve gone over the mountains and entered Coachella Valley. All of a sudden, it’s like a completely different world of sun and warm weather. I think that’s what you’re watching this weekend.”
