The Kings cleaned up the Oilers at Edmonton this weekend, playing with the chance to win their first playoff series since the 2014 Stanley Cup Championship Run.
Hopefully, the king didn’t forget his essentials while packing for such a big trip.
The Kings’X account is “Pack Your Harmonicas,” a Kings X account posted after a 6-2 victory over the Oilers on Crypto.com Arena on Wednesday night. “We’re filming this show on the road.”
That’s right, harmonica. Only two games in the 2025 playoffs, Freele Musical Instruments has become the charm of the Kings’ unofficial postseason fortune thanks to several memorable pre-match performances in “The Star-Spangled Banner,” played by a group representing Koreatown senior and the community center.
Located about 2.5 miles west of Kings Home Arena, the center offers 47 programs with around 1,500 people each week. Harmonica classes were introduced seven years ago, and the group began practicing the US national anthem in 2021.
On June 7, 2023, several class members performed the national anthem and began a Los Angeles City Council meeting at City Hall.

In January, Kim said the center had been contacted by the Kings. The Kings had planned for K-Town Night, which will be held on March 23rd, when the team hosted the Boston Bruins. Kwanilpark, the centre’s executive director, suggested that the harmonica group recreate the “Star Spangold Banner” performance before the match.
The king liked the idea, Kim said. So, 13 harmonica-class women and one man appeared in the game, dressed in traditional Korean hanboks, and performed the national anthem “in an overwhelmingly positive response.”
The Harmonica class was invited to Game 1 with the Oilers on Monday, Kim said. This time, the group was made entirely of women and again dressed in traditional clothing.

“It was a truly moving moment when the crowd sang the national anthem along with the harmonica performance,” Kim said.
That night, after winning the Kings Wild 6-5, the team’s X account posted a group of pictures from the game along with the caption “The Power of the Harmonicas.”
That led to the national anthem performance by the Harmonica Group on Wednesday, and this time she was wearing a Kings jersey. After the victory, the team’s X account declared “Harmonyking is 2-0.”
The series will move to Edmonton for Game 3 on Friday and Game 4 on Sunday, but the Kings will be home at some point this postseason. Does that mean that local hockey fans haven’t seen the final player at Koreatown’s senior center as part of the pre-game festival?
“We’re currently talking with the LA Kings,” Kim said.
