Dirt bike riders had to safely airlift after being injured Monday in the San Bernardino National Forest, officials said.
The rescue occurred just before 11:30am, not too far from Silverwood Lake, according to a news release from the San Bernardino County Fire Department posted on X.
“Because of the incidents like this happened so remotely, the decision was made to use helicopters with winding capabilities to safely remove riders,” the official said.
Details regarding the actual conflict are limited and it is unclear what caused the incident, but authorities said they suffered moderate lower limb injuries that were severe enough to encourage rescue operations.

Footage of the incident, released by SBCFD, shows a helicopter landing on a paved mountain path after pulling out the injured rider with the assistance of an initial responder in the San Bernardino National Forest.

The man was taken away from a helicopter above the gurney and moved to an ambulance waiting for transport to a local trauma center.
The rescue comes a day after a Kajon Pass motorcyclist plunged around 100 feet on the hillside and had to be rescued by the SBCFD crew. In that case, the footage showed the first responder to use the rope rescue system to pull out the injured rider as strong winds and nearby power lines prevented the operation of the helicopter.
“The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District reminds off-road riders to ride with their peers, wear full protective gear, have a recharged phone and know where you are,” the firefighter said.
