Inglewood police have begun investigating possible hate crimes after a Latino man was assaulted outside his home in a sneak attack.
Security video footage showed Javier Ibara blinded him on the morning of April 15th as the attackers punched and kicked him screaming racial slander.
“He told me, ‘Hey, you, f—Mexican,'” Ibarra explained. “He started hitting me, destroying my face, my eyes and everything.”
The suspect was described as being about 30 to 40 years, 6 feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds. The man who wore a green hooded sweatshirt and white and green Nike shoes at the time of the attack also had a tattoo on his stomach and a mole between his left eye and nose, police said.
Inglewood police said the attackers also robbed the Thorns key and stolen them with silver, blue or green Chevrolet Malibu, described as a 2008-2012 model with a covered rear window.

“I took my machete from my truck as I tried to chase him,” Ibarra recalled.
He suspected that the attacker was waiting for him to unblock his gates, hiding behind the hedge.
Police have no reports of similar attacks, but are trying to find out whether nearby cities have such incidents.
“I’m afraid of everything that’s going on,” Ibarra said. He added that his children are afraid too. Especially his 4-year-old child who doesn’t go outside after the attack.
