The Inglewood man recalls fearing his life by an attacker who was brutally assaulted outside his home.

On April 15, 41-year-old Javier Ibarra was heading to work when he opened the gate outside his home in the 200 block of West Hyde Park Boulevard at 6:40 a.m.

As the thorns’ head was heading towards the gate, surveillance video captured a male suspect who ran from behind towards the thorns and punched his head.

The suspect, wearing a face mask, gloves, a matching green hoodie and a sweatpants set, repeatedly punches thorns in the head and face, and he tries to protect himself.

“He ran around my truck and he immediately cried out to me, ‘You f****** Mexican! I hate you!” and he began punching me,” recalled Ibarra.

The suspect eventually grabs Thorns and throws him to the ground, but Thorns are heard screaming in pain.

Surveillance video shows the suspect ran to Javier Ibarra outside his Inglewood home and began beating with a hard punch, screaming racial slander. “There was a lot of blood all over my face,” Ibarra said. “My eyes were completely closed. It was a very scary experience because when I fell on the floor I was like, ‘This guy, he’s trying to kill me.’ I didn’t know what to do. ”

Ibarra screams for help and calls out his wife’s name, hearing the man punch him and kick him.

Surveillance video showed his wife went outside and immediately grabbed her cell phone to record the suspect, but the man was able to escape.

He had his keys with him in Ibarra’s house when he ran away. Inglewood police said his vehicle is called a silver, blue or green Chevrolet Malibu sedan.

Hispanic Ibarra said he doesn’t know the man and believes he is targeted by the potential hate crime.

“I think it must be a hate crime,” he said. “But I don’t know why. I’m Hispanic, but I’m not looking for anybody to do anything.”

The suspect is believed to be between 30 and 40 years old. He is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds.

As Ibarra continues to recover from the brutal assault, he says his wife and daughter are afraid that the attacker will return.

“I’m even scarier, not for me, but for my daughter she doesn’t want to go outside, she doesn’t want to play because she doesn’t want to go to school,” Ibarra said.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call the Inglewood Police Station at 310-412-5206.
