This is what really happened to a Wisconsin judge.
Put the spin aside – and there are a lot of it from some Democrats and critics – these are the facts.
Based on the criminal charges, County Judge Hannah Dugan has undergone a scheduled hearing for illegal Mexican immigrant Eduardo Flores Luis, who is already facing domestic abuse charges.
Not only that, Flores Lewis got caught up in a fight with two roommates who complained that he was playing his music too loud.
Flores-Ruiz hit a woman who tried to end the fight after punching one roommate 30 times in the face, the complaint said. Let’s sink that a little.
The Wisconsin judge’s arrest was blown up by Democrats who previously claimed “no one has surpassed the law” in Trump’s case.
So let’s get to what Hannah Dugan did. (Jim Geraghty of National Review has a very detailed explanation with extensive citations from the document.)
First she blew the hearing away. The ICE agents had the absolute power to arrest immigrants in county courthouses and were closing, but wanted to do that in a modest way.
She then arranged for Flores Lewis to take the private exit for her sole purpose of helping her avoid federal agents. And it worked. However, the agent followed him after the pursuit.

This is very similar to a suspicion of obstruction of justice.
Now Dugan is entitled to a presumption of innocence along with healthy skepticism. We only hear aspects of government stories.
Does that sound like a disturbance of justice? It was a judge being charged with hiding the individual to prevent arrest.
Yesterday’s Washington Post made clear what it alluded to a day ago. “While many of the president’s Republicans cheered on the aggressive actions, critics of the administration said the sight sent a horrifying message.
“The obvious purpose of Judge Dugan’s arrest in criminal charges is to blackmail and intimidate all state and local judges across the country,” said J. Michael Luttig, a conservative former U.S. Court of Appeals judge. ”
Many others deal with Dugan’s arrest, but unusual, as anger.

Before Flores Diaz’s arrest, a Milwaukee County official said: “This attack on a safe, community-fostering space will undermine public trust, create fear among citizens and staff, and disrupt the due process, which is essential to the courts,” the attack says.
Several other quotes supported by Geraghty:
“If Kash Patel is the FBI’s director,” posted “Donald Trump doesn’t like judges, and they can arrest them.” So, was this about some sort of personal animus against Dugan, not a suspicion of justice? And I don’t think Trump knew anything about this.
A judge who allegedly helped immigrants doesn’t deserve “special treatment,” Wisconsin lawmakers say.
New York Times columnist David Brooks said on PBS: That may be illegal, but on what planet a judge’s actions are considered heroic?
And this is what I found from Guardian columnist Moira Dodegan. “The Trump administration has cited the example of Judge Milwaukee to threaten critics and enemies.”

So the story transformed into an anti-Trump hit job. The president has done a lot to threaten critics and has spoken openly about it. This is not one of them.
