The ju judge convicted an Orange County man who became friends with a 13-year-old girl, gave her alcohol and drugs, sexually assaulted her, and documented disturbing behavior.
Jonathan Gonzalez Reyes, 38, of Anaheim, was convicted of one count of child pornography production, two distributions of child pornography, and one count of possession of child pornography, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Wednesday.
According to evidence presented at a three-day trial in June 2021, Gonzalez Reyes and his co-defendant, 32-year-old Nansi Jasmine Castillo, provided alcohol and anti-anxi medication to a minor girl, and sexually assaulted her as she drifted out of consciousness.
Castillo and Gonzalez-Reyes both took photos and videos of the attacks and shared them with each other, DOJ said.
Eventually, a search warrant was issued for the two defendants’ online cloud storage accounts, revealing intrusive photos and videos.
Both were arrested in June 2024 and have been in federal custody ever since.
In February, Castillo pleaded guilty to one count of the production of child pornography and is expected to be sentenced to 15-30 years in prison. Gonzalez Reyes faces the same potential time behind the bar.
Both defendants are scheduled to appear in court on July 28th to learn the full term of their sentence.
The incident was investigated by the FBI and the Anaheim Police Department.
