House Republicans whose families have achieved success in the trucking industry have expressed concerns about illegal immigrants working in the US industry
R-Ga. Rep. Mike Collins praised President Donald Trump’s executive order for mandating English proficiency as a requirement for professional drivers in an interview with Fox News Digital.
The actual ID deadline in the US is also approaching high as the Trump administration is ultimately trying to impose a 20-year-old measure to crack down on illegal immigrants, including those qualifying for a blue state driver’s license.

“Because there are people driving trucks in this country, the accident rate has risen by 75%. They can’t read or speak English,” Collins told Fox News Digital, saying he has been in the trucking industry for 30 years.
“I don’t know how that makes sense… but I’m grateful that the president saw it when he signed the executive order.”
In recent years, illegal immigrants have been able to obtain driver’s licenses in 19 states and in Washington, D.C., and are issued regardless of the immigration situation.
Collins said it has had a wider impact on the trucking industry.

“There are people who don’t have skin in the game, which has an impact on the trucking industry. It doesn’t matter if they’re involved in an accident, because they’re not legally here.
“At least drive these people off the road and let them stop driving.
Given that states will continue to issue unrealistic ID-compliant licenses along with new federal standards, it is not clear how useful a real ID will be in the near future.

But the Trump administration is at least trying to stop people illegally crossing the border from reaching Collins’ hometown of Georgia and elsewhere through airline travel.

Uncomplex Condition IDs will be prohibited from being used on commercial flights and from entering federal construction from May 7th.
“Under Biden, illegal aliens have used non-compliant IDs from sanctuary cities for flights, but higher security standards for actual IDs make it nearly impossible to build legitimate documents and only verified travelers can fly,” the Department of Homeland Security said in a memo this month.
