As the LA Times first reported, the proposed air transport project linking Dodger Stadium to downtown Los Angeles and downtown Los Angeles faces yet another hurdle after the state court of appeals refused to approve the project’s environmental impact report.
Officially known as the Los Angeles Air Rapid Transit Project, the effort links the stadium to Union Station and Chinatown in Los Angeles State Historical Park, via a suspended gondola system funded by former Dodgers owner Frank McCourt and his son Drew.
“No other approvals have been obtained, and the court’s ruling on Thursday required Metro to “get EIR certified,” until the revised Environmental Impact Report is completed “putting aside the project approval,” the Times reported.

Last year, Metro approved the Environmental Impact Report, but the California Fund and the Los Angeles Parks Alliance urged them to throw away the report.
The request was rejected by Los Angeles Superior Court last August, but the plaintiffs appealed Thursday, the Times reported.
The project must be approved by the Metro, Los Angeles City Council, Cartlan and the California State Parks Agency.

The proposed plan has been a topic that has been heavily debated for years since it was first published in 2018. Supporters of the project are promoting its zero emissions capabilities and its ability to reduce traffic concerns on game days.
However, opponents, including residents living under the path of the gondola system, are worried that the project will ruin the scenery and fly too close to the station, encouraging drivers to park in neighborhoods where small street parking is available.
