Luxury LA apartment murders are furious with managers

The unsolved murders in a vast, upscale valley village apartment are furious at the building management that has residents and reportedly says they have done nothing to address ongoing security issues.

Audio obtained by KTLA can be heard broadcasting an operator at the Los Angeles Police Station to officers around 3am on April 23rd.

“I just woke up to some loud noises, something crashes,” a tenant who didn’t want to be identified told KTLA. “There was a scream and I called for our safety, and right after that I called the police.”

Resident Kachi Haravedian, who showed KTLA’s Karien Winter around the building on Thursday, believes it was quiet when police first arrived at the apartment on the fifth floor and they never tried to get inside.

The tenant of apartment 514, identified as Menache “Manny” Hydra, now 53, was found dead three days later, only after calling police for welfare checks on April 26th.

“So the man must have been dead for a few days,” explained the Haravedian.

The suspect was seen in surveillance footage trying to enter the apartment on April 23, 2025. Video from doorbell cameras belonging to several residents captured a man who police identified as a suspect who could roam the hall just before the murder and attempt to enter several different units.

Many of the buildings told KTLA that anyone who committed the murders believed to have entered an empty five-story apartment and climbed from that balcony to the victim’s balcony.

A photo of the bloody exterior of the building between the two balconies strengthens these claims and a photo of the bloody door handle leading to an exit stairwell where the killer may have escaped after the murder.

LAPD is nervous about the details of the murder, and simply said in a news release that “the suspect illegally entered the victim’s apartment and a physical altercation continued, leading to the victim’s death.”

Some residents who don’t want to be identified said that tensions at the KTLA are high in the complex, with many, perhaps even the murdered victims themselves, have been complaining to management for months about unsecured entrances on the roof of the building, broken security FOBs and temporary items.

“When police released yesterday [suspect] Photos, it’s very clear that it’s temporary,” Halavedian said.

The employee’s building reportedly defeats a photo of the suspect placed by a resident. Moreover, management has never actually admitted the murder, treating it as an “incident” in emails, according to at least two tenants.

“What are they going to do to keep us safe, what security measures are they taking,” another resident said of the management.

KTLA has repeatedly contacted the management of Ashton Sherman Village Apartments for comments, but so far has not received any reply.
