As Beyoncé is set to hold another concert for a Cowboy Carter tour on Thursday evening, commuters will be frowning in traffic hard as the Los Angeles Clippers play the Denver Nuggets at Int’t’ Dome, but local business owners may smile from the boost in economic activity.
Local streets and parking were expected to be packed Thursday evening as fans from around the world poured into Inglewood and Southern California to start their tour.
“We’ve already got a lot of business, but when we leave town, they just want to get in,” said Marcus Howard, security host at Wood Restaurant.
BBQ spots often reach full capacity when Big Stars are playing at Sophie Stadium, according to restaurant manager Brenda Rivas.
“We’ve booked almost every interior because we called in advance that they’ll come after the concert or something. We’re happy about it,” she said.
Welcoming millions of visitors is not foreign to Inglewood, but the local economy boost was good news when there was widespread concern about possible recession over tariffs and other factors.
“The good thing is that we handle 4.5 million to 5 million people a year at 400 events, which is relatively normal for us,” said James T. Butts, Mayor of Inglewood.
“There’s a very robust traffic direction and traffic management program, so don’t worry. They’ll tell you exactly where you should go and how to get out,” Butts added.
