YE, formerly known as Kanye West, has been working to sue his former Beverly Hills dentist, who claims he has become addicted to nitrous oxide gas, aka laughing gas.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the rapper’s attorney sent a notice from Golden Law on April 30 to Dr. Thomas Connelly about his intention to sue. The letter alleges Connelly of misconduct. He also said he gave the west an excess of nitrous oxide for non-medical purposes.
“The evidence indicates that while you were in your care, you are engaged in a number of inappropriate and dangerous practices outside the scope of legitimate medical purposes or standard care,” says the letter obtained by the outlet. “These behaviors were not isolated incidents, but part of the pattern of inappropriate behavior by you from 2024 to 2025, but you were your patient.
The letter, signed by Andrew Cherkasky, claims that dentists encouraged rappers to use unsupervised gas.
The West claims it caused negative and behavioral effects.
“The result, in this example, you have been in urgent mental and physical distress and have led to urgent medical care,” writes Cherkasky. “In another example, if capacity is reduced and you knowingly disagree with the use of this substance, it suggests inappropriate use of propofol or similar controlled substances.”
Various media reports that the “Donda” rapper saw dentists in 2024 and 2025 and saw him in many cosmetic surgery procedures, including prosthetic work and custom titanium crowns. The service reportedly costs range from $50,000 a month to “hundreds of thousands.”
“You repeatedly administered or fed YE with nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”) and/or other sedatives in amounts and frequencies that have no legitimate dental or medical justification,” the letter states. “In particular, you went to a large ‘surgically sized’ nitrous oxide tank to deliver your personal residence (including the residence he shared with Mr. Censori) and effectively allow and encourage him to inhale nitrous oxide from any medical environment. ”
