Queens, NY: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y. threw a gauntlet at Tom Homan on Friday after threatening to refer the border emperor to the Department of Justice to advise immigrants to avoid being deported earlier.
Ocasio-Cortez told attendees at a Queens City Hall event that she is not afraid of words from the hardline immigrants, inspired by her office, which hosts a “know your rights” webinar in February. Homan suggests that her actions may be illegal and could prevent immigration and customs enforcement (ICE) from pursuing the Trump administration’s deportation.
“Tom Homan said he was going to introduce me to the DOJ because I used my right to free speech to advise them on their constitutional protections. Ocasio-Cortez told the cheering crowd.

Ocasio-Cortez argued, “There’s nothing illegal about it. If they want to make it illegal, they can bring me in.”
In February, Ocasio-Cortez’s office held a live webinar to advise immigrants about her rights if they came face to face in search of deportation.
People were advised to ask for a warrant, and when ICE was called, they recorded searches when given tips on how to distinguish between different warrants that ice could carry.
That led to Homan, suggesting that New York Democrats could have crossed the line.
“I think I’m working with the Department of Justice. Where is that line they cross?
“All she has to do is read the laws enacted by Congress…it’s a crime to get into this country illegal.”

“Not only that, when you embrace and hide and block law enforcement, it’s a felony. What she’s doing is saying she’s educating everyone about constitutional rights.
Ocasio-Cortez on Friday also attacked the Trump administration’s approach to border security and immigration, referring to deportation of Venezuelan gang members as “authorized incentives.”
“I don’t even want to call them deportation. They are tempted in many situations,” the lawmaker told attendees. “They don’t have a carte blanche to enter. If they want to knock on your door or knock on someone’s door, including the workplace, then “Show me the warrant. Show me the warrant.” And if they don’t show you the warrant, you can say they can come back with the warrant.
Ocasio-Cortez was talking to a packed auditorium filled with hundreds of people for the participants. Someone who couldn’t sit in the overflow room across from the hall.

Participants gave a warm reception to progressive lawmakers, and one destroyer appeared to be in full support of her legislative agenda and previous district representatives. Many questions from the audience have centred on local issues, asking them how they plan to raise the minimum wage, improve air quality, and how they plan to tackle the Trump administration.
The loudest applause came when Ocasio-Cortez expressed his opposition to the new casino proposed in Citifield. The lawmaker has been approved by the New York City Council, but said that the lawmaker is a state issue and that he is not in the district and has no say in the issue.

The event was mostly peaceful, except for early confusion by protesters who began screaming at Ocasio-Cortez about Gaza’s “genocide.”
“I am a healthcare worker and I want to know what you’re doing about Gaza’s genocide,” protesters began screaming at lawmakers.
“Shame! Shame! Shame!” The audience began screaming at the destroyer. We also managed to hear the “boo” that we could hear before she was ultimately led to security.
