Lovers lament the 21-year-old woman killed in a crash in Fullerton.
On April 12th, Angie Velázquez left the gathering that morning and sat in the passenger seat as her boyfriend drove them home.
Her boyfriend, who was driving a Tesla Sedan, was moving west down Orange Thorpe Avenue at 6:48 a.m., according to the Fullerton Police Department.
His speeding car clipped a Toyota truck before crashing directly into the side of an Orange County transport bus.
Velazquez was killed by shock. Her boyfriend was taken to the hospital, where he died the next day. His identity has not been announced by the coroner’s office.
“Angie had just turned 21,” said family friend Stefana Cabanas. “She’s very young, very beautiful and very bright.”

Velazquez was also the young mother of a five-year-old son.
“She was doing so many things, and now I can’t see her mother grow up with him, so that’s a shame,” Kabanas said. “It happened all of a sudden, so we try to take it every day. We’re so broken about this loss. She was a very special person to us. She’s a mother, a sister, a friend, and it’s just devastating.”
Friends and community members are coming together to support Velázquez’s family during this challenging time. Cabana said Velazquez’s grandmother also passed away recently, leaving two heartbreaking losses to her family.
On Saturday, loved ones held a fundraiser in Santa Ana to raise money for funeral expenses. Cabanas said Velazquez’s son will receive additional support during this period.
“Everyone is just trying to support her family,” she said. “She has a big family, a big support system so her son is in very good hands. Everyone will be there for him as much as possible, but it’s a huge loss for him, because it’s his mother.”
Another fundraiser will take place on Sunday, May 4th, where food will be served at its home at 813 Plymouth Place in Anaheim.
The crash is under investigation. Five passengers on the octabus were taken to the hospital where they had minor injuries. The bus driver and Toyota driver were not injured.
It is unknown whether alcohol and drugs are the factors behind the conflict.
