President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he is scheduled to appoint a new national security adviser in about six months, and that former advisor Mike Waltz did not resign, but instead was taken away from his upgraded position as UN ambassador.

Trump spoke with reporters in Air Force 1 on Sunday night. There, they were asked about several topics, including trade deals, Mexican cartels and the status of national security advisory.

One reporter asked about the president’s exit for waltz as a national security adviser. The president said he was chosen for what he called “higher status” or “upgrade.”

Trump also said the waltz wouldn’t make a mistake, and as an ambassador to the UN, he would do a good job.

“I didn’t lose confidence in him,” Trump said. “He’s going to go to the United Nations for a reason. For me, for me, if I have a guarantee for myself… I want to do that job more than any other job.”

He also repeated that Waltz did not resign, but instead Trump moved him.

“There was no resignation,” the president said.

Waltz and other national security board staff were expelled from their offices on Thursday at the exit of the second Trump administration’s most famous executive office. Trump announced that the UN ambassador had named the waltz as the news unfolded several hours after it began to circulate.

Trump told reporters on Sunday that he plans to appoint someone to the position of national security advisor within six months, saying there are many who want to work.

The president was specifically asked whether Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller was considered for his role.

“Stephen Miller on the top of the totem pole? I mean, I think he already has that job indirectly because he needs to say a lot about a lot,” Trump said. “He’s Stephen Miller, a very important person in the administration.”

The president also responded that some could come when asked if the trade deal would be announced this week.

But when he was pushed if he could say more about the deal, Trump was held back.

“No one understands it,” he said. “We are negotiating with many countries. But at the end of this, I set up a transaction, so I set up my own transaction. They don’t set up a transaction. I set up a transaction.”

Trump said he has met with almost every country regarding trade transactions, including China.

Explaining the process further, Trump said he would set tariffs and whether the country agrees to it.

“They don’t have to deal with us. We lost under Biden so it’s fine. We’re losing $5 billion a day,” he said. “Think about it, $5 billion a day. We don’t deal with China at all because of tariffs, so we’re saving billions of dollars.”

During the gag, the reporter also asked if it was true that he offered to send troops to Mexico to take care of the cartel.

“Because they should be. They are the scary people killing people on the left and right,” Trump said. “They built up a lot of money selling drugs and destroying others.”

He explained that the cartel is responsible for importing fentanyl into the United States. This has killed more than 300,000 people this year.

Trump called the cartel members “bad news.”

“If Mexico wanted the help of the cartel, we would be honored to come in and do it,” Trump said. [Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum] I would be honored to come in and do it. The cartels are about to destroy our country. They are evil. ”

This offer was ultimately rejected. Because Trump fears Sinbaum “can’t even think straight” because he fears the cartel.
