A riverside marine who was killed while serving in New Mexico last month was returned to California on Monday.
A procession was held to celebrate the life of the 22-year-old CPL. Albert Aguilera, 22. The gloomy memories began at Ontario International Airport, where hundreds of people lined up the routes for their final salutes.
Aguilera, along with two others, was in a vehicle accident while supporting the Southern border project in Santa Teresa, New Mexico on April 15th, supporting the Southern border collaboration. The vehicle the trio was moving on fell into a 10-foot ditch and rolled along a narrow highway, killing Aguilera and another Marine.
“He said he volunteered, so he’s brave to go honestly,” said the man’s cousin, Priyanka Fonseka. “I’m really proud of him and I hope he knows it because he’s so close to my heart.
Aguilera enlisted in March 2023 and was promoted to Head of Lance Corp in May 2024. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton.
His family held a private ceremony at Menifee. They have not announced where the Marines will be buried.
