Community Health Station, run by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, offers free overdose prevention tools and other health-related supplies, is available Tuesday.
The agency launched a self-service station or vending machine earlier this year, and plans to deploy a total of 100 stations over the coming months. The 51 new stations will be located in easy-to-access locations, including pharmacies, health clinics, community centers and homeless shelters.
Residents can use the interactive map at Ph.Lacunty.gov/CommunityHealthStation to find their nearest community health station.
Available items include Covid-19 test kits, condoms, fentanyl test strips and naloxone. The kit and package are provided with user instructions.
“By using free public health products available seven days a week through the self-service community health station, you can access important products that support health and save lives,” said Barbara Feller, director of DPH.
According to the department, anonymous investigations are provided via touchscreens, but there is no need to receive supplies.
The program is a collaboration between the Department of Public Health and its Substance Abuse Prevention and Control, together with the HIV and STD Programs department.
