The $20,000 reward for an investigation into the shooting deaths of a woman and daughter at the Compton intersection will be considered by Los Angeles County officials on Tuesday.
The Board of Supervisors is expected to approve rewards for information that lead to arrests and convictions in the murder of 45-year-old La’von Hall and 22-year-old daughter Ma’laysia Martin in the April 1 drive-by shooter.
The two women were waiting at the stoplight when someone from another vehicle fired fire around 7pm at the intersection of Caldwell Street and Central Avenue. The Shooter vehicle left a scene heading south along Central Avenue.
The hall was found on the street west of the intersection. Her daughter was found in the passenger seat of the car.
Both women died at the scene.
The drive-by shooting could be attributed to a domestic conflict, officials said. Mekahlo Medina is reporting NBC4 News’ report on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 4pm.
A few days after the shooting, sheriff’s office investigators identified Hall’s 41-year-old ex-boyfriend, Donte Brown, as the suspect in the murder. The brown remains large.
Brown is known to frequently appear in the Compton and Long Beach areas and should be considered armed and dangerous.
Detectives said they believe there are witnesses to the murder who may have information for the investigator.
