The judge orders refugees to reopen resettlement
A federal judge on Monday ordered the Trump administration to quickly resettle around 12,000 refugees in the United States under a court order that partially blocks President Donald Trump’s executive order aimed at suspending refugee enrollment programs.
US District Judge Jamal Whitehead, a 2023 appointee to former President Joe Biden, issued the order despite last week’s hearing that he needed to appeal an order requiring thousands of people to be granted, simply by disposing of 160 refugees within the country.
“This court will not enjoy the rewriting of the government’s outcome-oriented judicial orders. “Of course, the government is free to seek further clarification from the Ninth Circuit. However, the government cannot freely violate the statute and constitutional laws, as well as the direct orders of this court and the Ninth Circuit, but it does seek such clarification.”
