Former Los Angeles City Councilman Nate Holden passed away Wednesday at the age of 95, his family told LA manager Janice Hahn.
Holden served in the public sector for more than 30 years as a city council member, state senator and deputy director of former Los Angeles County superintendent Kenneth Hahn.
Hearn says that she remembers Holden, or as she mentioned him, “Uncle Nate” is as a force considered in the Council and in the Hearn family.
“Nate Holden was a legend here in Los Angeles. He was a lion in the state Senate and a force to consider on the Los Angeles City Council. I sat next to him and learned a new councillor.

Holden was born on June 19, 1929 in Macon, Georgia. He was elected to the California Senate in 1974 and served until 1978.
During his term of office, Holden supported the author’s California Housing Finance Discrimination Act or the Holden Act, which prohibits discrimination based on race, religion, gender, and marriage status.
