The alleged explosion by Sen. John Fetterman has reopened concerns about whether the Pennsylvania Democrat is still suitable for office after suffering a stroke several years ago.
Fetterman, a 55-year-old Democrat, is probably best known for his distinctive habit of wearing gym shorts and hoodies, suffering from a stroke in 2022 and later admitted to Walter Reed Hospital for six weeks after taking office.
The Associated Press reported this week that during a meeting with his state teacher union members, Fetterman was upset and began screaming repeatedly, “Everyone is mad at me,” and “Why do you hate me, what did I do?” He also reportedly clapped his hands on the desk during the explosion.
The outlet reported that President Aaron Chapin of the Pennsylvania Education Association (PSEA) was attending the meeting. Neither PSEA nor Chapin responded to Fox News Digital’s request to confirm or reject the incident.

According to the Associated Press, aides cut off the meeting, escorted visitors, and broke their weeping.
The explosion came just before New York magazine published detailed stories of his mental health concerns from several current and former staff members. The magazine reported that staff “paints a picture of an unstable senator whose mental health situation is becoming nearly impossible to work and whose mental health situation is more severe and complicated than previously reported.”
This article broadly cites testimony from Fetterman’s former Chief of Staff, Adam Gentleson. He expressed many actions regarding behaviors, including “conspiratoral thinking; megalopathy and low and low.”
The author of the article not only worries many staff about his fitness as a senator, but also says that “he may pose a risk to Democrats and perhaps even himself.”

In response to the AP report, Fetterman’s office told Fox News Digital that he did not confirm or deny the explosion, but instead said, “It’s true. There was a lively conversation about the collective frustration over the Trump administration’s cuts to the education system.”
The Senator said: “As a proud product of PSEA, I will always support teachers and I will always reject any attempts by anyone to turn Pennsylvania public schools into a voucher program.”
Referring to an article in a New York magazine, Fetterman “issued as “concern” and doesn’t promote lies and half the truth. ”
