Metrolink will be able to cyclists on a free train to celebrate Bicycle Day on Thursday, May 15th. Riders on bikes do not need tickets. Bikes count as fares.
“Bicycles and public transport are closely linked,” said Doug Chaffee, chairman of the Metrolink Board. “Bicycle Day is a great opportunity to promote these active and sustainable transportation options in parallel.”
Most Metrolink trains can accommodate up to three bikes, and bicycle-designated cars hold nine trains and arrow trains, operating in San Bernardino County, with up to 12 for each vehicle. Both standard electric bikes and qualified electric bikes are permitted.
Bicycle passengers will be waiting at Downtown Redlands Station on Monday, October 24th, 2022. We are preparing to ride the arrow, a new nine-mile rail service between the Redlands and San Bernardino. (Getty Images)
This offer does not apply to Amtrak Pacific Saliner Train under Metrolink’s Partnership Program.
Other Southern California transport is also marking the opportunity. LA Metro offers free rides throughout the system, the Ventura County Transportation Board has abandoned rider fares on bikes, and MetroBike Share offers free 30-minute rentals with promo code 051525.
