The Orange County District Attorney’s Office said Friday that a teenager was charged with murder after being accused of stabbing a 14-year-old student at Santa Ana High School.
The unknown teen was also charged with assaulting with a deadly weapon to stab two other students. The DA’s office said it is prohibited to disclose the name of a juvenile suspect in accordance with welfare and agency codes sections 827 and 828.
The suspect, who also attended Santa Ana High School, had drawn himself to the Santa Ana Police Department along with his brother after a fatal stab wound on Wednesday, authorities said.
The deceased student was identified as Armando Morales of Santa Ana on Thursday by the coroner’s office.
Two other students were also injured by stab wounds, but police said it happened during the fight in front of the school. They were expected to survive, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
A makeshift memorial was set up in front of the school to remind me of Morales.
“I think I’m still dealing with it because I really don’t want to say he’s gone,” said Aaron Chavez, the best friend of the late student. “He was a really fun, caring, funny kid. He didn’t get in trouble. He was like a clown in class.”
The school district issued a statement Wednesday night.
