The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said a Ventura County man and woman have been arrested in connection with a teenager who has been missing from Montrose for several days.
The minor was reported missing in an unincorporated area of Montrose on Friday, urging his family, community members and law enforcement officials to try and find him.
“Efforts made to find minors included community canvas, research interviews, wireless emergency alerts and the use of technology,” the Sheriff’s Department said. “In addition, the use of scented dogs and the collaboration between business entities helped our research efforts.”
Once the teens were placed safely and reunited with their family 72 hours later, 25-year-old Brandon Holgin and 23-year-old Kayleigh Kaplan were arrested by investigators. They face several charges, including human trafficking, child abduction and child risk.
They were scheduled to appear in Pasadena Court on Tuesday, May 13th.
“Tonight, we ask each parent or guardian to check in with the child or child and discuss dangers related to human trafficking,” Cressenkavalley plays captain Ryan A. Vienna. “I think it’s Ah Relief that he knows that this minor is safely reuniting with his family.”
According to the Sheriff’s Department, human trafficking is defined as someone who deprives or infrings someone else’s personal liberty with the intention of obtaining forced labor or services.
