On this Mother’s Day, local artists will capture and celebrate the diverse nature of motherhood as part of a project entitled “The Story of Motherhood” that emphasizes motherhood.
“What I’m doing with this project is filming mothers from different paths of life and learning their stories,” artist Brianna Schradder told KTLA photojournalist Joshua Jenkins.
All mothers were photographed with their children and wrote and published stories ahead of the May 8th gala at the Park Club in Costa Mesa.
The event featured a gallery exhibit featuring powerful portraits along with personal stories.
A portion of Gala’s revenue goes to Girls Inc., an organization that serves around 114,000 girls each year, offering the opportunity to help them realize their potential fully, according to a news release.
“Mothers are shaping the next generation,” Shraddha said. “By partnering with Girls Inc., we’re not just celebrating our mothers. We’re investing in our daughters, our future and our community that they lead.”
