Father, son duo shares the initiation stage after graduating to a matching degree

The two recent business school alumni who walked the stage at the start of Viola University last week have more in common than their last name.

On Saturday, father and son Craig and Will Pritchard took to the stage one after another to be awarded Masters in Business Administration. They are only 40 years apart for a few minutes on stage.

Craig Pritchard is waiting for his son to cross the stage to accept his MBA at the Biola launch ceremony on May 10, 2025.

I accepted his bachelor’s degree in 2022. In 2022, the third of Craig’s children graduated from Viola. Watching Craig cross the stage to accept his diploma, it gave him an inspiration to do it himself.

“Craig, a veteran business expert who has worked for the current company for 20 years, wanted to broaden his expertise and showcase fresh solutions and ideas that he could implement in his work,” a school official wrote on the Biola News blog. His son “wanted to further deepen his business knowledge and leadership skills before he entered the workforce.”

They spent the next two or more years completing their Crowell School of Business degree, overlapping in classes and working together on projects, including the final class.

During their academic pursuits, the father/son duo began to get to know each other on a deeper level as classmates and colleagues.

“[Will] Craig said, “I brought fresh eyes, new perspectives, new wisdom, new wisdom, current skills, and new wisdom and current skills to the project and interaction. “Perhaps my richest experience in the intensive research of many years of MBAs in the business, and my appreciation and ability to look back at the rearview mirror was the ability to reflect and share those experiences with my will.”

Others, whose age slowed, praised his father for continuing his education, joked that his father sometimes left him off.

“It reminded me that ‘understanding what will happen next’ is a lifelong process and not just a lifelong process you face after your undergraduate,” Will said. “He was always ahead of schedule. He asked me about reading and ideas when I was still catching up. He formed a bond between us that I didn’t exchange anything.”

On Sunday, Craig and Will walked across the stage at the start as the rest of the family were in the crowd. In June, the university said their relationship will continue its path from family to academic, academic and professional as they embark on the next chapter as business colleagues.
