Airbnb has evolved beyond home sharing.
On Tuesday, the company announced a summer 2025 update expanding its platform to include Airbnb services, Airbnb experiences and a redesigned Airbnb app. This update allows users to book their homes, curated activities and personal services all in one place.
“Seventeen years ago, we changed the way people travel. Over hundreds of millions of guests later, Airbnb is synonymous with where they stay,” said Brian Chesky, co-founder and CEO of Airbnb, in a statement. “With the launch of our services and experiences, we’re changing our travels again. Now we have more than Airbnb than Airbnb.”
Check out the new services that will be featured in the Airbnb app.
Airbnb Services
The new Airbnb service brings hotel-style amenities directly to your guest’s gateways without having to stay or travel in the hotel.
The Airbnb service, which will be launched in 260 cities, includes 10 initial categories.
Home Chef Photo Session Massage Spa Treatment Personal Training Hair Styling Makeup Nail Care Preparation Meal Full Service Catering
Prices vary, with many services under $50.
All providers have been examined and verified. According to the company, most hosts have an average of 10 years of experience, including Michelin-starred chefs and award-winning experts.
Expanding the Airbnb Experience
Airbnb is rebooting its experience (guided activities hosted by local experts) as an immersive, curated way to explore the city.
Available in 650 cities, this reimagined platform features food tours, cultural landmarks, outdoor adventures and exclusive events under the new Airbnb original banner. Notable hosts include Olympian Carol Solberg, anime fan Megan Tell Orion, and singer Sabrina Carpenter.
Unlike traditional tours, Airbnb says the experience is social and designed to be authentic. New features, which will be released later this year, allow guests to connect with fellow participants before, during and after the experience.
Users can book an experience such as:
Landmarks, museums, cultural food tours, cooking classes, outdoor dining, water sports, wildlife gallery tours, art workshops, shopping workouts, wellness, beauty
Airbnb Original
The new category, Airbnb Originals, is a series of exclusive experience series hosted by some of the world’s most compelling personalities, and will also appear in the app.
Guests can learn to make pastries at the famous French Busters Bakery along with chef Rafael Elbaz, or pound the sand for a volleyball session with Olympian Carol Solberg at Rio’s iconic LeBron Beach.
Fans will either use Megan Teichan’s “Geek Hotty Quest,” espresso to exploit the anime ego with pop star Sabrina Carpenter on the set of “Short and Sweet,” or throw soccer with NFL star Patrick Mahome, followed by a taste of Kansas City BBQ.
The Airbnb experience is evolving to promote more social interactions.
Later this year, guests will be able to see others participating in the experience before booking, connect with others during the activity and stay in touch thereafter. The platform encourages locals to participate, allowing you to discover unique activities in your city without having to travel.
“Travel activities today do not provide a real connection to the cities you are visiting,” Chesky said. “The most authentic way to explore a city is with locals who know it best. In the Airbnb experience, you don’t just see a place, you experience it.”
New Airbnb App
The company has also redesigned its app to allow users to find all the new services in one place.
Redesigned app features:
Travel tab with itinerary and local recommendations for home, services and activities Profile tab to enhance media sharing and payment messaging tab Tab showing travel history and review ability
Hosts will receive new tools to manage lists, calendars, and bookings and improve integration via Google Calendar.
Airbnb services, Airbnb experiences and all-new apps are available now. Hosts can register for early access to the app Airbnb and receive upgrades.
