As the public respected, the men and women who died while serving in the US military, as well as the Southern California community, were scheduled to hold ceremonies throughout the anniversary.
Located for approximately 90,000 veterans to rest, Los Angeles National Cemetery hosts an annual ceremony that includes wreath sales, speeches and performances of “tap.” The event will begin at 10am at 950 S. Sepulveda Blvd.
Forest Lawn Forest Lawns at each location in Southern California (Covina Hills, Glendale, Hollywood Hills, and Long Beach), honoring veterans who collapsed in memory of free anniversary. Starting at 10am, the event brings together generations to commemorate the lives and courage of American veterans with patriotic music, laying wreaths, presentations and flag retirements.
The Canoga Park Community Centre will host the 33rd Anniversary Day Parade, with 50,000 people scheduled to attend. This year’s event will be the theme “in honor of the price of freedom” and celebrate the service and sacrifice of our nation’s heroes. This year’s Grand Marshall will retire from the retired Navy rear Mike Shatinski. The event begins with the opening ceremony at 10am, followed by a parade at 11am along the Sherman Way from Owensmouth to Cosacroft. The event features a lineup of marching bands, scout troops, vintage vehicles and patriotic floats.
In Boyle Heights, Mayor Bass commemorates the anniversary by joining local leaders to honor fallen service members who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
The city of LaCanada Flintridge is set to hold an anniversary parade at 11am after residents gather for a 5k run, followed by a walk at 7:30am and a service ceremony.
In Whittier, Rose Hills Memorial Park & Funeral will be holding the 103rd Anniversary Observation at 10:30am. Keynote speakers do so
Become Joseph Siarra, a US military World War II veteran. There will also be vintage aircraft overpasses and performances by the County Sheriff’s Department Band and Honor Guard.
Playa Vista’s Ivy Park will be holding an anniversary event honoring nearly 20 veterans during veteran social hour to reflect their service. Among the winners are 94-year-old John Rene, a Navy veteran, who recently moved to Playa Vista after losing his home in a Palisade fire.
