In an anniversary speech at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia on Monday, President Donald Trump praised the fallen American heroes, praised God, and vowed to “revise” the republic, which was founded nearly 250 years ago.
“We gather today to bring together in incredible service members who are hitting glory in this cemetery and burial ground around the world, and in a thousand lonely places known to God at every moment of danger and crisis every hour,” Trump said. “American warriors have left home and family blessings to answer their country’s calls. They provide everything they had within them, give each of us their final breathing, and we may breathe in safety.
“This morning we pay tribute to their immortal deeds. We share the sadness of their beloved family and, as one nation, thank you for the ultimate gift they have given us all so selflessly.

The president said the 2025 anniversary is “particularly important as it marks the 250th anniversary of the fall of the first American patriots into the field of combat two and a half centuries ago.”
“Lexington Green, Concord Bridge, Bunker Hill, brave Minutemen and humble farm boys became the first to give their lives for a country that doesn’t have a name yet,” Trump said. “Those young men may never have known what their sacrifices mean to us, but we certainly know what we owe them.
He added: “The republic I am revising after a long, intense four years. Who has experienced it? Who has made it happen? It’s not checked through our borders.
“We’re doing better than ever, if we’ve done more than ever, and I promise you that.”
Trump has acknowledged the surviving families in attendance of several fallen soldiers he mentioned by name, including veterans who died in duties in Vietnam, Iraq and Syria.

Trump has accused Harvard of being “very late.”
In recalling their stories, the president also promised a “big, big celebration” to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary next year, thanking God that he will be in office to celebrate an important milestone.
“These extraordinary American heroes and their immeasurable ultimate sacrifices provide a mere glimpse of the infinite bounty they have received from everyone who has lost their lives for America over the past 250 years.
“In some ways, I’m happy it missed that second term because I’m not going to be president for that,” he added, drawing some laughs. “More importantly, there’s the World Cup, there’s the Olympics. Can you imagine? I missed those four years. Look at what I have now.

“God did that. I believe that too. He did that,” Trump said.

“In every corner of this cemetery, you will find a resting place for the dead of war, anywhere on earth, wherever you go, you will find equal heroism, heroism and heartbreak, unparalleled patriotism and devotion, and selflessness and courage that cannot be denied understanding,” Trump said. “We honour their eternal and eternal glory, and continue to pursue America’s destiny without relentlessly, as we are stronger, more proud and more free than ever before.
“May God bless our fallen heroes. May God bless our Golden Star families and God bless the United States of America.”
