According to a statement posted on the singer’s social media page, Billy Joel has cancelled all scheduled concerts until the summer of 2026 after being diagnosed with brain damage.
According to the statement, Joel, 76, was recently diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) and was advised by his doctor to refrain from performing it when receiving treatment, including physical therapy.
“This condition has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to issues of hearing, vision and balance,” the statement said.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, normal pressure hydrocephalus is a condition caused by accumulation inside and around the brain that can affect brain function. According to Nyu Langone Health, it most commonly affects people over the age of 60.
“We are so sorry for letting our audience down. Thank you for understanding,” Joel said in a statement.
Joel had 17 concerts scheduled between July 2025 and July 2026. Fans who have one ticket for a cancelled concert do not need to take action to get a refund.
