In a brave overnight robbery, multiple suspects used tools to sweep the roof of a coffee shop and stole cash and goods from an adjacent jewelry store in Simi Valley.

His family-owned business on Cochran Street was targeted just before midnight on Sunday, according to Jonathan Youssef, owner of 5 Star Jewelry & Watch Repair.

The suspect joined the business through a coffee shop next door, and a video submitted to the KTLA shows that one of them is chasing their belly at the coffee shop and is not detected by motion sensors. He then sprayed the camera lens to prevent him from seeing what was going on.

Jennifer McGraw of KTLA 5 reported that when the burglar broke into the coffee shop and accessed the store’s safe by drilling holes in the walls and a 6-inch seat lock, it appears they know “exactly what they were doing.”

A thief craps the stomach and steals the adjacent jewelry store in Shimi Valley, avoiding motion detection sensors. May 25th, 2025. Jonathan Youssef points to a hole excavated by a thief who plundered a jewellery store in Simi Valley on May 25, 2025.

Youssef shed tears and repeated the claims, saying his family has lost everything they had and now faces an uncertain future.

“It’s a hit – [my father’s] Retirement, my future… I have a young family and three daughters,” he said.

“He was literally on his way to retirement,” he added. “The truth is, I ordered an autograph to close on Monday so he didn’t have to go in anymore.”

No known arrests 48 hours after mob attacks on LA trains, shops and police cars

Jonathan Yousef explained more about the family-run nature of the store, saying his father, Jacob, started his business from scratch.

“My dad built this business. [had been running] “He sold it 25 years ago to start this jewelry store,” he said. He added that he took over the store in 2015.

Jacob spoke to KTLA and said the store was “his life.”

“It was my life, my retirement so it felt bad… They got everything we had,” he said. “I don’t know what to say… I’m 71… I can’t reconstruct what I’ve done in my life.”

Jacob Yousef (left) tells KTLA through tears after the jewellery store he started is taken away. His son Jonathan (right) is seen comforting him.

According to the father and son, the thief not only let the store escape items, but also took items belonging to the customer.

“I’ll try to come [Jonathan’s] Because I’m the one who gives him business and he controls it. Jacob said. [to get back] It belongs to the customer. Because that’s all we are worried about right now. ”

Body found near the LA County Freeway was prompted to investigate “possible foul play”

No descriptions of suspects related to the jewelry robbery have been released. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Shimi Valley Police Station.

Youssefs has launched a fundraiser to ease costs and begin the recovery process. The link to donate can be found here.
