Los Angeles County officials identified the man after his body was found wounded by a bullet in a large trash can in a Lancaster truck.
Investigators first received a call about the missing person at about 1:50am on Sunday on Beach Avenue near the Sierra Highway, and then they came across a large truck leaving the area.
When deputies began looking at the car, they found the missing person’s body in the open trash can behind them.
The LA County Coroner’s Office has identified the man as William Alridge of Lancaster.
He was declared dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds, according to Steve DeJohn Chut of the LA County Sheriff’s Department.
According to the online fundraiser page, Alridge was a beloved husband, father and son.
“This pain can’t bear it,” said Daniel Alridge in an online post. “William was tragically murdered. It’s a nightmare we’re still trying to wake up.”
Several individuals were taken into custody in connection with the incident, but authorities did not specify how many people were being questioned or whether an arrest was made.
