Democrats are spending $20 million on research examining how to speak to “American men” after losing their demographic status during the 2024 election cycle, the New York Times revealed.
“Talking to American Men: The Strategic Plan,” a $20 million project created by Democrats, and “study the syntax, language and content that gains attention and virality in these spaces,” the Times reported Sunday.
Known as “Sam,” the study will specifically examine young male voters and how parties connect with demographics. Additionally, the study advised to deploy democratic parent advertising in video games.
The revelation of this research came in a comprehensive article detailing the difficult battles Democrats faced after the 2024 election. This included former President Joe Biden scrambling to replace him as a candidate with more than 100 days left in the election cycle, eventually delivering seven battlefield states to President Donald Trump.
“The discolored image of the Democrats could not come at a more inappropriate moment,” the article detailed. “In this era of political polarization, the Kuomintang brand is more important and influential than ever, often driving the outcomes of the most local race.”

In response, Democrat operatives and donors gathered at the Swank Hotel to develop a plan on how to pull back the working class and male voters, The Times reported.
Trump created a massive intramway with men’s votes during the 2024 election cycle. A Fox News voter survey published in November 2024 found that men between the ages of 18 and 44 support Trump in 53% compared to 45% of former vice president Kamala Harris.
The Associated Press found that more than half of male voters under the age of 30 voted for Trump in place of Harris, including about six white male voters who support Trump, but about a third of male black voters supported Trump, as did about 50% of young Latino male voters.
Trump’s support among young black and Latino male voters has increased by about 20% compared to his support in 2020, the Associated Press reported.
Democratic strategist Michael Ceraso told Fox News Digital on Tuesday that he has no issues with Democrats investing in voter engagement strategies, but added that he found him “walking around in a gorgeous hotel asking how people in suits can talk to Americans on a daily basis.”
“We have problems with messengers that are more than message,” Ceraso argued that voters support longstanding democratic policies such as affordable housing, but that “Democrats need to take a “reality check” on how they communicate their message to rights holders.”
“I don’t understand how I continue to make the same choice after all these years and all these Democrats who have been in the game,” he added. “Lam Emmanuel, or all these kinds of big names, they say, “Yeah, we’re going to figure out how to wander around in a hotel in New York and win in the North Carolina countryside.” That makes no sense to me. And I don’t care how much money you spend on focus groups.

Fox News Digital said it sparked criticism from conservatives and Democrats, studying the “syntax” of American men.

“A democratic donor treating men like the endangered species of remote islands that you probably need to study will probably not rebuild trust,” MSNBC contributor Rotimi Adey wrote on X in response to a Times report. “This kind of top-down anthropological approach misses the point. People don’t want to be deciphered, they want to be understood and they want to meet where they are.”
The “idea that you can” is to “fix” the issues of male voters that exist in black, Latino and white men, spending $20 million to study the syntax like foreign cultures. “These voters are not the subject of research. They are citizens.”
“In response to a tweet that he’s citing an article about how Democrat donors and strategists can reclaim working-class voters and commission new projects that can be read like Huawei’s anthropological research, he wrote to X, “This really says it.”

A few critics have reposted the video from the 2024 campaign cycle. This featured a man who declared himself “sufficient human being” to support Harris for the president. The grassroots ad went viral in October 2024 as social media commenters pointed out that they panned as “the most troublesome political ad ever created,” and featured actors created by former producers of Jimmy Kimmel and swearing to support Harris.

The video featured six self-proclaimed manly men who were masculine enough to eat a “carburetor for breakfast” and who claimed they “didn’t bear fear” but added that they were not afraid of women and would support Harris for their oval office.
