Ford Motor Company is recalling more than 1 million vehicles due to software errors that may delay, freeze or display images from the rear camera when the vehicle is reversed.
The recall announcement, made on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website earlier this month, includes 1,075,299 vehicles including specific Ford F-150, F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, F-600, Edge, Transit, Bronco, Expedition, Escape, McKe, Ranger, Rinkorun Navigator, corsair and corsair models.
“The central infotainment screen may freeze, followed by a black screen and a system restart. If this occurs during a backing event, the rearview image may be frozen, missing, or delayed,” says the Safety Recall Report (SRR).

SRR showed that an incorrect operation sequence within the wireless communications subsystem of the synchronization software is causing an unexpected system reset.
Owners will be notified by mail and take the vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to receive the latest Sync4 software or if equipped (if equipped).
