The industrial facility adjacent to the Ventura construction site is tagged with a reddish crevices as several vehicles and structures slip into giant sinkholes.
Construction on the site in the Thompson Boulevard and East Front Street area began a week ago, according to a Ventura Forward’s Instagram post.
“A water well was discovered during construction and the digging did not stop,” the post read. “As construction began, a large amount of water was pumped out of the location.”
In the photo of the sinkhole, estimated to be around 25 feet, at least two pickup trucks are captured on cracked crater asphalt on the opposite side of the fence that houses the construction site.

Video footage of the sinkhole posted just a few hours later shows both trucks deep inside the hole in a nearby structure that is likely to be threatened by several other vehicles and the crater Earth.
Aerial footage taken by Sky5 on Thursday afternoon showed a third tarp-covered vehicle hanging unsteady as it appeared to have a hole widened, putting storage units at risk and distorting the fence at the construction site.

A report from KTLA’s Gil Leyvas said the area is a mix of residential and industrial properties, and the construction site will be a luxurious apartment.
As of 6pm, there were no reports of injuries and no signs of first responders or construction workers trying to reduce the progression of the sinkhole.
This property is red tagged, meaning it is not safe and uninhabitable.
