The 85-year-old woman was hospitalized after a juvenile suspect attacked her violently during a robbery in Lakewood.
On April 30, Lakewood’s agents responded to an attack on a residential area in the 5400 block of Hyter Avenue.
Surveillance video from a nearby home showed the victim identified only as an 85-year-old woman walking down the sidewalk in the afternoon.

The young suspect finds a woman and quickly approaches her from behind. He physically stands up to the woman, and after a brief struggle, he yanks his wallet away from her, and the momentum hits her hard on the ground.
The robber escapes and the woman lies on the ground. She was later taken to the hospital with a head injury.
“From what we understand [victim’s] Daughter, he had a brass knuckle so he put her in a sock before pulling her away from the socks,” said neighbor Stefiani Mukai. She had no idea this would happen to her. ”
The suspect was later arrested on May 19th. His identity was not released due to his boyhood status. A loved one said the elderly victim was still recovering from her injuries.
“She probably spent a week in the hospital,” Mukai said. “She likes the 16 stitches on the side of her head, depending on what happened.”
The violent attacks have seen nearby residents wary, and many worry about their safety.
“I think we’re safe, but that’s not because it’s happening to people in the daytime,” Mukai said.
“It can happen to anyone,” another neighbor said. “Anytime, anytime.”
No further details have been made as the incident remains under investigation.
