The 24-year-old man was arrested Thursday morning for the death of a man shooting outside a Long Beach home.
Filming was reported at 5:15am on Thursday in the 2000 block of Harding Street near Cherry Avenue. The man’s body was found above or near the driveway of the house next to an auto repair shop.
The man was found with at least one gunshot wound to his upper body. He died at the scene. There, shell casings were scattered across the ground in front of the house.
It was not immediately clear whether the man lived in the residence. Police did not release his identity.
During the investigation, officers responded to the areas of 49th Avenue and Del Amo Boulevard after reporting someone struggling with a mental health crisis, the Long Beach Police Department said Friday. The 24-year-old man identified by police as Garrett Lemillard was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder after police said he “issued a statement leading to murder.”
The bond was set at $2 million. LA County Jail records did not provide early court dates.
Details regarding the motive were not available early Friday, but police said the victim and Lemilard were known to each other.
