Three masked intruders were caught on cameras that broke into a Hollywood Hills home late Thursday night, but unknown to them, the family was inside and relaxed at night.
The thief broke into the main gate and received a bold warning.
The intrusion occurred around 10:30pm on May 29th. Surveillance footage shows the burglar (woman wearing a mask, gloves and hoodie) expanding the tall wall to reach the front entrance.
I then used the clover to break the glass panel and unlocked the door from inside.
What the suspect hadn’t noticed was that at the time, a few residents were inside the house, in the room downstairs. The calm calm suddenly shattered as the intruders made noise upstairs, prompting conflicts nearby.
Security footage cried out loud as the suspect escaped – sounded comparable to the shooting. However, despite messages about the signing, the homeowner did not fire any weapons during the incident.
Residents had just returned from a trip to Mexico and were intentionally waiting to post photos of their holidays on social media. Still, they became targets.
“We heard big footprints upstairs…and even more shuffles,” said Chantelle, one of the victims. She refused to share her last name. An entrepreneur and artist, Chantelle lives in the house with his family.
“How terrifying was that to you?” asked Chris Wolfe of Ktla.
“It’s very scary,” replied Chantel. “I felt very violated, and after seeing the footage, and seeing it, I thought that if they came here when we weren’t here and my 20-year-old daughter was here alone, it would have shaken me the most.”
Her boyfriend’s voice may have ultimately scared the intruders. After the 911 call, LAPD officers arrived within minutes.
“I’m very happy that the officers came here as quickly as they did,” said Alexis, a friend who was on the scene.
The suspect ran away and dropped the Clover. It was recovered by the police and is currently in custody of evidence. Detectives are using the neighborhood for additional security footage.
