He was injured when an attacker used his weapon to set people on fire at regular demonstrations in Colorado.
The group runs for their lives – Boulder has been holding demonstrations quite regularly, sometimes weekly since 2023, following Hamas’ attacks on Israel.
Boulder Police Chief of Colorado, Stephen Redfern, said the suspect was in custody following the afternoon violence and suffered minor injuries requiring hospitalization.
The suspect’s name has not been released. People were asked to leave downtown Boulder as police check out vehicles that could be associated with the attack, Redfern said.
“The area is not safe yet,” he said.
X’s FBI director Kash Patel called the incident a “targeted terrorist attack.”

He said the agents were on the scene supporting police in the investigation.
Redfearn said it’s too early to say whether the groups that support hostage releases are being specifically targeted or are acts of fear.
“It’s too early to guess your motivation,” the chief said.
According to a notification for the February event by the same group, “This is an event that is going on. We’ll continue walking until all hostages are released.”
