The suspect, who was accused of fatally shooting two people over the weekend, including a Baldwin Park police officer, was identified as 22-year-old Eduardo Roberto Medina Belomen, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Two law enforcement agencies who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss active investigations said Medina Bellmen had no known criminal history. He lives with his mother in a speech at Baldwin Park on Philhurst Street, where the shooting erupted Saturday night, sources said.

Baldwin Park police responded to the home around 7pm and met the shooting. Two officers, Samuel Liberos and Anthony Pimentel, were struck and rushed to the hospital. Liberos, 35, of Pasadena, did not survive.

Officials also found a man suffering from a fatal gunshot wound in the front yard of the house where the suspect was found. The unidentified man was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead. It was not immediately clear when the person was shot, but LA County Sheriff Robert Luna said he believes the suspect is liable.

Medina Bellmen, who was taken into custody after the shooting, was injured by police but was listed in stable condition, authorities said. It was not immediately clear whether he had a legal representative. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office was not charged late Monday morning.

Eduardo Medina, who identified herself to the Times Reporter as the suspect’s father on Sunday, said she was the first to learn about the arrest, murder and a shootout from her daughter.

“I don’t know,” Elder Medina said. “It’s so sad. That’s not good. It’s not good at all.”

Medina said his son lived on Philhurst Street with his ex-wife. About five months ago, his ex-wife said he called police because his son was “a strange performance.”

Medina said she didn’t know what that meant, but his ex-wife told him that police had arrested his son and confiscated the gun.

Investigators are still working to determine the motives for the shooting.

Van Luvalkaba, 81, who lives across the street from where the shooting began on Saturday night, said he initially thought he was hearing firecrackers, but then saw his neighbor fired something that looked like a long gun. He said the young man seemed to be in his front yard, shooting into the air and shooting in a different street direction, but he didn’t see any man particularly aiming for someone or anything.

Still, he called the grandmother of the man who lived with him and warned him not to let his grandson inside, hiding under the bed.

Ruvalkava also entered his house, so he didn’t see what happened next, but was shaken by the news of their deaths. “Thank God I’m still here,” Rubalkaba said.
